How to get involved

There are many ways in which you can become involved in Linux and the open source community. If you're interested in getting involved, then let me encourage you to do so!

Spread the word!

One of the best ways you can help is to spread the word about how great both Linux and open source software are. The more people we have involved the better it will be!

Spread the word about this 'Make The Move' website, too. Post it on your blog, link it on your website, or email your friends and colleagues! Thanks!

Assist a project

You could help out with support on the forums and mailing lists of your favourite Linux distribution, or simply by reporting any problems you find. You might prefer to assist with your favourite application, or even help out with this 'Make The Move' project! We have a community driven wiki and mailing list which need love and attention.

We are also looking for people to translate this website into their native language. If you're up for the challenge, have some suggestions for this website, or find errors please let me know.

To start, pick something that you are passionate about or are interested in. Identify what your skills are and what you can offer to such a project or group. Then make yourself known by contacting the project and see what you can do to help.

Also consider joining up to your local Linux User Group. It's a great way to help others, get help yourself and learn more.

Financial support

Financial support is also a great way to help open source projects. As their software is made available free of charge, many projects rely on donations to further development. Every little bit helps.
